The Sigaram Residency

Six months of real hands on experience, not coursework.

Residents join the founder’s team and work on live products for clients in the US, the Middle East and Australia. You own a feature from spec to production, sit in the weekly review, and ship under your own name.

Length
6 months
Hours
Full-time, Monday to Saturday
Cohort
3 to 5 residents per cohort
Fee
₹1,20,000, in six monthly instalments

Who can apply

Sigaram graduates who have completed F3 or F4, or engineers and CS graduates who pass a two-hour build test. We look at what you can build, not your marks.

What you leave with

  • Production commits on real products used by paying customers
  • A reference letter from a working software architect
  • A portfolio and GitHub profile ready for remote work or freelancing
  • A clear next step: join Summit Stream Technologies, work with a partner client, or go independent

What you actually do

  1. 01Weeks 1 to 4

The codebase, the tools, the way we review work. Your first fix goes to production in week two.

  2. 02Months 2 to 5

Own one feature at a time: database, API, interface, tests, deploy. Weekly review with the founder.

  3. 03Month 6

Lead a small piece of work end to end and hand it over properly, with documentation someone else can use.

We do not guarantee a job. We guarantee real hands on experience, a live product, and an honest reference. That is worth more.

What you leave with

Evidence,
not certificates.

  • A live URL with your name on it
  • A GitHub history a recruiter can read
  • A product with login, a database and an AI feature
  • The habit of explaining your work in English to a client
  • For residents: production commits and a reference letter

Why Sigaram

Taught the way software is actually built.

Fundamentals first

We do not hand out tools; you learn what is happening underneath, whether it is a web app, a database or a language model.

Live code, real mistakes

Most teaching is live programming on screen. Students join real development work as soon as they are ready.

1-on-1 and small batches

Seats capped so nobody hides at the back.

Research inside the institute

The founder actively studies how LLMs learn and store knowledge, and that work shapes the curriculum.

Research

We study how language models learn.

Alongside teaching, the founder trains small transformers from scratch and has written a C++ workbook on LLM engineering for students. That work shapes every course here.

Once a month we run an open reading circle on the inside of language models: attention, training, inference. Free, small, and honest about what we do not yet know.

Location

Opposite Srinivasa Ramanujan’s House, Kumbakonam.

We hope to be worthy of our address.

Open in MapsWalk-ins Monday to Saturday.

Questions

Before you call.

Is the teaching in Tamil or English?

Both. We explain in Tamil wherever it helps. Code, documentation and client communication are in English, because that is how the industry works, and you will be ready for it.

Do I need a laptop?

For F1, a phone is enough. From F2 onward, yes. We keep a few loaner laptops in the lab for students who are arranging one.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, monthly, for every course including the Residency.

I have a job. Can I still attend?

F1 to F4 run in the evenings with a Saturday lab. AI for Developers is weekends only. The Residency is full-time.

Can I skip a step on the ladder?

Yes, if you pass a short build test. We look at what you can build, not your certificates.

Do you guarantee a job?

No. We guarantee real hands on experience,on a live product with your name on it, and an honest reference. Our residents leave with production commits, which is what a remote employer or a client actually checks.

Who is Young Coders for?

Students in 8th to 12th standard. No experience needed. Weekend batches during the year and a summer camp in April and May.
